Vermont---Day 1

I arrived at my friend, Diana's house in Middleburry last night. After breakfast she drove us to Waitsfield where's there's a covered bridge & we ate lunch.

Then we went to Montpelier, the capitol. Vermont has the smallest capitol in the US.

The gray building is the Von Trapp Lodge. You remember the Von Trapps from "The Sound of Music." Well this is where they settled in the US & obviously did very well with this ski lodge.

The brightly colored pictures are from the Ben & Jerry's original plant in Waterbury.

I love the cemetery for discontinued flavors!

When we got home, we sucked peas for another of Diana's fabulous dinners. We did this on her back porch with the help of a couple of glasses of wine.

There are 2 photos of her back yard that a black bear had visited recently so when I take Jake out at night I keep him on the leash. I don't know if you can see a cemetery beyond the yard in the first pic, so Diana has very quiet neighbors .The blond is Diana's dog, JD.

Diana's front yard faces west.

This was a more colorful sunset than I was able to capture on film.

The first night I was here we were able to view fireworks from Middlebury College from her front porch.
