Plymouth

I thought I was well read in Washington & the Pilgrims. I have found that I actually know very little & both subjects intrigue me.

When I entered Plymouth there was a banner announcing sail racing that week end. It was already Sunday afternoon so most of it was over.I ended up going all the way to the tip of the cape to see Provincetown where the pilgrims first landed. As you can see it was too sandy for crops but it's a big time resort now.

I knew that the pilgrims never stepped on Plymouth Rock which is now in the white portico & fenced off, however, it is such an important icon in American history I wanted to see it anyway. I took a picture of the inlet where the Pilgrims landed, the Mayflower was anchored over a mile out in the harbor.

The sun was setting as I headed up the Cape to Boston.
